Touch: A mobile application to bridge the gap in communication between stadium announcer and spectator.

Touch is a mobile application which aims to deliver stadium announcements, to your phone, which are normally made over the public address system. Users can read each announcement made through the app and also use it to stay up to date with the game whether they are at home or in the stands. This app was made for the deaf and hard of hearing and employed a user-centered design approach, along with cultural probes, surveys and discussion to shape this solution. Touch was also designed for spectators particularly at the Markets Field Stadium in Limerick, this is the home of Limerick’s own soccer team Limerick FC and also hosts a number of rugby games throughout the season. This cost effective solution should allow for a more inclusive experience for all spectators in the Markets Field, in particular those fans who are deaf and hard of hearing.
HTML, CSS and JQuery are the coding languages of choice while ‘Adobe PhoneGap Build’ will be used to convert the files and create the application which can be made available on Android, iOS and Windows mobile.
