Plantphony

The precarious conditions of our planet in recent years, which are gradually worsening, suggest how much the practical, spiritual and emotional connection between men and nature has been lost over time. However, current generations have rediscovered the people-plant relationship once again. Caring about nature means caring about the environment itself and its living organisms: because of that, it would be helpful to restore, reinvent and support this connection, especially in urban areas. This relationship requires non-invasive technology to enhance and add meaning to the traditional daily interactions occurring with houseplants. Because of that, music is considered the missing medium of human-nature communication. In this way, by listening to its sounds and the variation caused by the plants, people can gain a deeper understanding of their behaviour and connect emotionally and materially with plants. Users will receive a do-it-yourself kit to compose their trellis, classic support for plants with the addition of sensors that will allow them to keep the conditions of the plant under control. Finally, through the musical and light information, it will communicate their needs.
