Student-centred methods of teaching in higher education focus on the student and include collaboration and communication with other students and their lecturers, the lecturer is involved with their students learning and students can help each other learn.
The design of an online learning platform Engage+ is an attempt to explore the use of an interactive platform to help facilitate the learning of students in higher education. Students are able to communicate with their lecturers and engage with their peers through the platform.
It enables students to provide feedback to lecturers and gives them an opportunity to address any issues or needs that they have throughout the duration of their course. It also allows students to interact with their peers to promote discussion of module content and other relevant material which go past current boundaries of classroom structures.
The project follows a user-centred approach to design and explores the effectiveness of incorporating a tool for students that enables them to focus on their own learning needs and share a learning discussion with other students which improves the quality of their learning experience.
